From the timeless
tranquility of the
desert to the lively
bustle of the
shopping malls,
Dubai offers
visitors a
kaleidoscope of
unlimited colors.
One of the most
significant
international cities
of the 21st century,
Dubai is an icon for
luxury, quality and
modernity; a city
where the
sophistication of
the modern era walks
hand in hand with
the simplicity of
the bygone times. |
Millions of tourists from
around the world converge
upon Dubai every year to
savor its delights and
delicacies. Awash in
sunlight all year round,
Dubai is a supreme beach
resort. The pale turquoise
waters of the Gulf lap the
pristine beaches of pure,
soft, white sand.
Apart from deep sea swimming
and sunbathing, cruising,
yachting, jet skiing, wind
surfing, paragliding,
speedboat racing, and scuba
diving are some of the most
popular modes of recreation.
A shoppers’ paradise, Dubai boasts
some of the most exclusive
tax-free
designer labels; and a gourmet’s
delight, it offers
internationally acclaimed
food from notable chefs.
Dubai's strategic location
is also a key element in its
success. The heart of one of
the world’s richest regions,
Dubai is located midway
between the Far East and
Europe. Dubai has an
all-encompassing social
circuit, from the
Dubai World Cup,
the world’s richest horse
racing event, to the famous
Dubai Rugby Sevens,
the renowned Dubai
Tennis Championships
and the premier
Dubai Desert Classics.
Luxurious living, the finest
cuisine and world class
shopping have now become the
hallmarks of modern Dubai,
enjoyed by residents and
visitors alike.
|
Dubai has invested
heavily in its
infrastructure,
creating a city of
multiple-lane
highways and
skyscrapers, as well
as a model city that
provides
ultra-modern
amenities, stunning
scenery,
exclusivity,
privacy, tax
free living
and safe
environment. |
 |
State-of-the-art
telecommunications, reliable
power, modern schools and
healthcare are all laying
the foundations of an
increasingly multi-cultural
and modern society. And
Dubai has earned a
reputation for constantly
reinventing itself, chalking
out strategic plans for
development and keeping in
mind the growing needs of
urbanization and
industrialization. Following
the vision of making Dubai
an icon of ultramodern and
ultrachic living is the
booming real estate
market in the
emirate.
Many projects, which could
only have been trapped in
architectural imagination,
are already silhouetted
against Dubai’s skyline. One
of these is the symbol of
modern Dubai, Burj
Al Arab, which is
the world’s most
luxurious hotel.
With its high rise buildings
of breathtaking opulence,
Dubai is a tribute to
gleaming modernity.
Skyscrapers jostle along the
spectacular glitter of
world-class hotels and
up-scale golf courses, which
in turn provide the backdrop
for ambitious projects like
The Palm-the
palm shaped archipelago of
islands, often referred to
as “the eighth
wonder of the world”.
Dubai, with its wonder,
charm, and modernity
promises a lifetime of
treasured memories and
thrill to enrich your life.
The delights of Dubai await
you!
Getting around Dubai:
|
 |
Dubai is
ideally
located at
the
crossroads
of Europe,
Asia and
Africa. More
than 80
airlines
operate to
and from
Dubai
International
Airport to
more than
130
destinations,
making it
one of the
busiest
airports in
the world.
Emirates
Airlines, the

airlines of
the UAE is

Dubai. |
Public Transport
Dubai has a
well-connected
network of public
transport that is
convenient besides
being economical to
travel. The
air-conditioned
local buses run from
the Deira and the
Bur Dubai Bus
Stations. Taufeer,
the monthly bus
pass, makes travel
more economical.
Regular buses are
available from Dubai
International
Airport. Dubai
transport
Corporation runs
air-conditioned
buses to Sharjah,
Hatta, Al Khawaneej
and Al Awir.
Water Transport
Small motor boats
known as Abras run
across the Dubai
creek daily from
early morning until
around midnight and
charges 50 fils per
journey.
Taxi
Air-conditioned
taxis are easily
available on the
street or pre-booked
by telephone. The
Dubai Transport
Corporation operates
metered taxis and is
safe for even a
lonely lady
traveler. The
drivers are very
polite and well
mannered and
occasionally might
not have detailed
knowledge of the
city and ask the
passengers for
directions. One can
hire taxis without
the fear of being
cheated by the
driver because they
have computerized
meters. The meter of
the taxis in the
city start at Dh3.00
while at airport,
they start at Dh20.

Car Hire
A valid
International
Driving
Permit,
passport and
credit card
are required
for one to
hire a car
in Dubai.
Visitors
from many
European,
North
American and
many Asian
countries

temporary
local
driving
license if
they do not
have an
international
license. A
valid
national
license,
passport and
two
passport-size
photographs

in order to
do this. |
 |
Fully comprehensive
insurance is
essential. In the
event of an
accident, the police
must be informed and
a written police
report obtained,
otherwise the hire
company’s insurance
might not cover any
damage. Drivers must
be at least 21 years
old and have held a
full license for one
year. The age limit
is often raised to
25 years, for more
expensive models.
The payment must be
made by credit card.
